So Glenn Reynolds got my attention today with his headline, “A DVD SECOND SEASON for Firefly?“, and then in his post links to a number of articles about how creative endeavors like television and book production are slowly pushing out middlemen one by one.

He quashes the Firefly 2nd season rumors that were flying around a month or so ago, but with the promise of further media decentralization, maybe that’s not such a big deal anyway.

This article in the Guardian about the UN wanting in on the governing of the internet could possibly portend something very bad, or it may be okay. The internet has grown up and matured under the protection of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and has consequently helped to extend the human right of free expression all over the world (granted, with some notable exceptions). Will a UN-administrated internet allow the free expression to continue? If so, then well and good. If not, then governments will have commandeered another tool that they can use to brainwash and subjugate their citizens.

[The U.S. and other freedom-loving countries probably won't have too much to worry about if the internet is corrupted; in time, they will just invent another way to network and communicate outside of and above and beyond the internet as we know it.]
