At the risk of sounding post-millenial, God has truly established the work of righteous hands this year: the number of electoral democracies on the planet is at an all-time high. The Lord does indeed keep his promises: Handel’s music for that passage in Isaiah 9 has been stuck in my head all week. Our president often ends his speeches with “May God continue to bless the United States of America.” I second that, and add to it: May God continue to bless the world through the United States of America. Forgive our sins; help us to repent of them and make us good so that we can continue to spread truth and justice around the globe.
