FULL SPECTRUM CULTURE

Apparently, Senator Rick Santorum has just come out with a new book. It doesn’t have a terrifically original title, and not having read the book, I am slightly leery of an agent of the government writing a book about how a family ought to be, since in general it is none of his business. (It’s not any more his business than it is of the family member of an [thankfully former] agent of government who has written a book about how the government needs to be involved in the workings of the family. I’m leery of that, too.) This leeriness is probably the root of many of the negative reviews of Santorum’s book that are on Amazon. But it is shocking and dismaying to see the bitter and bilious fruit coming from this root. I’m sure Amazon screens out the worst of it, but the cynicism, sarcasm, and discourtesy is astounding. Get a grip, people, or you might end up like this guy [in the e-mail quoted in sixth item].
